Tanjung Aan Beach

This is a true Lombok classic. Tanjung Aan is known for having two different types of sand – the famous moon sand on one side and super fine powder on the other! The water in the bay is usually calm and clear, making it great for a swim. Don’t miss the short walk up Merese Hill at the end of the beach. The view from the top, especially as the sun starts to dip, is absolutely stunning – it’s a view many of us here love heading up for. You’ll also find some nice, relaxed local spots right on the beach for a drink or a bite.

Mawun Beach

Head west from Kuta and in about 20 minutes, you’ll find Mawun Beach. It’s a beautiful crescent-shaped bay tucked between green hills. This natural shape often keeps the water calm, making it fantastic for swimming when other beaches might be wavy. Mawun usually feels a bit more peaceful and less busy, perfect if you’re just looking to lay back and enjoy the quiet sound of the waves.

Selong Belanak Beach

Just a little further west, often just at the edge of that 25-minute mark, is Selong Belanak. This long, sweeping beach is famous for being perfect for beginner surfers. The waves here are gentle and roll in nicely, and you can easily find places to rent boards and get a lesson. It’s a lively beach, and if you’re lucky, you might even see the local water buffalo taking a stroll down the sand – a classic Lombok sight!

Seger Beach

Super close to Kuta, right next door to the east. Seger Beach is easy to get to for a quick visit. It’s known for the small hills nearby that you can climb up for nice views looking back towards Kuta bay and the Mandalika area. It’s a convenient spot if you want a quick beach fix without going far.

Getting to these beaches is usually done by scooter from Kuta – it’s the standard way to explore around here and gives you the freedom to hop between spots. The roads to these main beaches are generally easy to ride.
